Level 2
A Note From the Coach:
I am happy to be a par of the wonderful torpedoes swim club. Throughout my coaching journey I have experienced a lot of coaching methods and swimmers. To tell you a little bit about my background I will start from the beginning.
I am originally from Florida in the United States and this is when my swimming journey started. Swimming was my second love after American Football, but unfortunately my mother was scared of me getting hurt so swimming was my next option. I progressed through my swimming career from a 2-minute to a 58-second 100m freestyle. I then progressed into college swimming where I qualified for olympic trials, however one week before trials I tore my achilles tendon and as a result my career as a swimmer ended. Through this journey I learnt to appreciate the hard work and dedication that it takes to reach the highest level in the sport.
My journey has brought me to Zambia as a result of my wife's pursuit of Medical School. Upon arriving in Zambia I started coaching at Baobab College for half a season in which I saw a number of my swimmers achieve personal best times under my guidance. However, my journey now continues here at the Torpedoes and I can not be more excited.
My goals for level 2 is to teach all the necessary effort and discipiline it takes to become an elite swimmer. Time management, good technique and determination are what I expect out of all of my swimmers. I believe that no matter what level you are you are able to do phenomenal things with those three characteristics. Come ready to work and have fun as we grow together.
I am happy to welcome you to the Torpedoes Swimming Club and a great season to come.
